Richard H. Tarr, MBA, CISA, CIA

Mr. Tarr is an internal audit consultant who specializes in peer reviews (Quality Assurance Reviews) of internal audit departments.

He has 35-years of internal audit and IT experience in the development, training, and evaluation of internal audit departments in both the public and private sectors. Having conducted more than 150 quality assessment consulting engagements, he has an extensive understanding of the internal audit profession and how the audit process can be improved across organizations of all sizes in various sectors. His experience has provided him with a broad knowledge base about what constitutes best-in-class practices regarding all kinds of internal auditing activities.  

As the Manager of Quality Assurance Review Services for the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), he traveled worldwide conducting quality assurance reviews of internal auditing departments. He has conducted Quality Assurance Reviews in industry, government and higher education.  He has also authored publications and articles for the IIA on establishing and creating effective internal auditing activities.

Before joining the IIA, he was with the Walt Disney Company, where he established and developed the information systems audit function at Walt Disney World, and later served as the Corporate Information Systems Audit Manager for the Walt Disney Company.
